REPORT 3° TRANSNATIONAL MEETING:
DAUGAVPILS – LATVIA

We met at the Latgola Hotel at 11.00 am and departed by bus to Naujene Parish around the territory of Daugavas Loki Nature Park and we visited some attractions:
- Naujene Local History Museum. At the Museum we took part in 2 workshops (making Latvian pancakes and traditional decorations made of clay), we visited the exhibition of the Latvian artist Valentina Zeilé and had the pancakes for lunch.

Then we departed by bus to the hotel and we had the Welcome Dinner at “Vesma” Reastaurant.
27th September 2016
At 8:30 the members of the five delegations met at the Park Hotel Latgola and walked to the school. One of the member of the Italian delegation was an expert about Children´s Literature at the University of Chieti-Pescara.
At 9:00 there was an Official welcome in the school and the pupils’ concert.
After the concert we made a tour around the school and observed English, ICT, Latvian and Chemistry lessons at different levels.
Then we visited the School Museum.
Later the first work session started in the Methodological Centre. We discussed the following topics:
- Planning for the next round of the project (Calendars)
- Meeting in Pescara
The Italian delegation reminded of the criteria for choosing students for mobility to Italy: the students involved will be those who have a good behaviour, excellent marks and regular frequency at school.
In the afternoon the five delegations were received by the Vice Mayor in the City Council and saw a presentation about the Host City.
In the specific occasion the Vice Mayor explained in a clear way the interest of local administration for young people, school and sport.
He also underlined the open and positive attitude of the town towards innovation and international projects.
Then the Coordinator of “Flip&Movie” Project – Bini Annarita (headteacher of Istituto Comprensivo Pescara 8) – greeted the Vice Mayor and thanked him for the warm welcome. She spoke about the town of Pescara, its position and traditions. She also invited him to come to Pescara.
After we visited the Russian House to understand Russian culture and we had a traditional Russian dinner.
28th September 2016
After meeting at the “Park Hotel Latgola” Hall the delegations departed by bus to Preiļi Museum of Dolls.
There we saw an exhibition of dolls and how they are made. All the participants wore costumes that represent some past time.
After we left the Museum of Dolls and went to visit the Bread Museum. Here we listened to the process of making bread and could taste a typical Latvian meal.
In the afternoon the Italian Delegation attended the ceremony at the Palace of Culture for Teaching Excellence Awards.
29th September 2016
The Latvian delegation informed the other partners about an online article describing the Official Meeting in the City Council that can be found on www.daugavpils.lv. Also the Latvian delegation shared pictures and presentations with the other partners.
All delegations presented their activities during the first day/s at school.
Croatian delegation introduced their working version of the second output Story Inventor via presentation and web application available on storyinventor.eu. Characters, settings, plots, ends of story, mystery box (for fun) are included in the application to help pupils to create their own stories. All delegations agreed to send three national stories to the Croatian delegation until 10th December 2016. Until February 2017 the categories of the application need to be filled up (mystery box). Croatian delegation obliged to send instructions for filling up the application.
School television made a video about The Third Transnational Meeting in Latvia.
Discussion about the Short Term Meeting of Pupils in Zadar ended with these conclusions:
- checking number of pupils involved in mobility to Croatia in April, 2017. It is important to book the accommodation on time.
- The meeting in Zadar will be on 24th April – 28th April.
The Italian delegation presented the activities and methodology used with the Latvian story “Jasmine”.
Croatian delegation showed an example of collection of information about students involved in all mobilities during the project. All delegations should send the material till the end of November, 2016.
After lunch at school, all delegations took part in a guided tour to Daugavpils Fortress and Mark Rothko Art Centre.
Later they had a Farewell dinner at the “Arsenal” restaurant where Latvian expert from the University joined other delegations.
30th September 2016
The Italian delegation made a note regarding to the mobility vocabulary (kindergarten or nursery – both words accepted). After the Italian partners clarified that the activities, in Pescara, are focusing on Creative and cooperative transformation of the text which students and teachers will have in common as readers. There is planned a work session about the first output Be Happy 2 Read and Write where the teachers who collected materials are participating.
The coordinating country (Italy) presented a summary sheet that summed up how to present literacy strategies and activities via descriptive text and tutorial video to make the first output more transferable and innovative. At the end of the meeting, the Latvian coordinator gave certificates to all delegations.
